Kiv was proud of his work. Doing his best to do the job right. That job for him was most often, explosives. Anyone can set charges and destroy a bunch of things. But it takes an “artist” to blow up just what you want to. Kiv listened to his commander, and his feelings, when he was told only to destroy certain targets, and to make sure no collateral damage was done, especially where civilians could be involved. He has no real problem killing people, as long as they are the target. Or are suppose to be near the target, namely soldiers.
Kiv was glad to be the lead sapper on the Wild Cards last mission. When Kiv detonated the charges he was at first sad and confused as to why there was no “big boom.” Then horrified when he saw the results. This was not what Kiv wanted to do. Yes some soldiers would have died, but in the explosion. The rest should have been captured or killed when the rest of the battalion arrived to clean up. Instead it was the wild cards that were “Cleaned up.”
Once the trial was almost over, Kiv knew his sentence would be worse then most of the rest of the team. For he was the demo expert. He should have know what he was planting. And Kiv knew the bombs he planted were the explosives he and the team went in with. But with no proof that they were switched, the hammer fell on him, thankfully not the axe though.
